Here's a look at the Eagles' snap counts from their Week 18 loss to the Commanders.
Nick Sirianni decided to rest most of his starters against the Commanders in Week 18 with the hope they would still be able to win.The Eagles lost 24-17 and squandered an opportunity to get the No. 2 seed in the NFC.
But they are relatively healthy and rested going into their wild-card round matchup against the 49ers next Sunday. Against the Commanders, the Eagles had seven inactive players and even more two dressed but did not play. Inactive: Nakobe Dean, Marcus Epps, Jalen Phillips, Lane Johnson, Landon Dickerson, Dallas Goedert, Jalen Carter Active but did not play: Jalen Hurts, Adoree’ Jackson, A.J. Brown, Sam Howell, Saquon Barkley, Quinyon Mitchell, Reed Blankenship, Cooper DeJean, Cam Jurgens, Zack Baun, Jordan Mailata• Tanner McKee started the game and played all 64 snaps at quarterback. McKee had some good moments but didn’t play well throughout Sunday’s game, wasting an opportunity to show to the league that he could one day be a starter. McKee had played just 25 offensive snaps all season before Sunday. • Three offensive linemen played all game: Fred Johnson, Matt Pryor and Drew Kendall. Johnson started the final seven games of this season after Lane Johnson injured his foot. The Eagles are hopeful Lane Johnson will return for the wild-card round. Kendall, a fifth-round rookie, had played just 25 snaps all season before Sunday. • The only starter on the offensive line to play was Tyler Steen. He played the first 28 snaps before getting pulled. • At running back, Tank Bigsby played 38 of 64 snaps , followed by Will Shipley — 26 snaps and A.J. Dillon — 2 snaps. Bigsby had a nice day with 75 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown, as well as a career-long 31-yard catch. • At WR, DeVonta Smith started the game and played 9 snaps . That was enough for him to surpass the 1,000-yard mark on the season; after he hit that mark, he was promptly pulled from the game. Jahan Dotson led the WRs in snaps with 60 , followed by Darius Cooper — 54 snaps , Britain Covey — 35 snaps and Smith — 9 snaps . • Grant Calcaterra was the TE1 in hit game and played 28 snaps before leaving the game with a knee/ankle injury. Kylen Granson played 49 snaps and Cameron Latu played 19 .• Four players were out there for all 69 of the Eagles’ defensive snaps on Sunday: Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Kelee Ringo, Jakorian Bennett and Sydney Brown. • While the starting linebackers and secondary sat on Sunday, the Eagles did use starters on the defensive line because it’s a rotational position, but they played less than the backups. At DT: Byron Young — 54 snaps , Ty Robinson — 51 snaps , Moro Ojomo — 35 snaps , Jordan Davis — 34 snaps . At edge: Josh Uche — 40 snaps , Jalyx Hunt — 36 snaps , Nolan Smith — 34 snaps , Brandon Graham — 28 snaps . • Michael Carter II played 65 of 69 snaps . Brandon Johnson played 23 snaps before leaving with an ankle injury and then Mac McWilliams came in and played 21.
