The Eagles’ message entering their 2025 training camp is pretty simple. The Super Bowl LIX season is behind them.
The Eagles were initially supposed to have their Super Bowl LIX ring ceremony in early June but a production snag pushed their big party deep into July.“It was a moment,” Hurts said about the ring ceremony, “and that moment is behind us.”The Eagles’ 2024 season — their 14-3 regular season record, their four playoff wins, including their blowout win in Super Bowl LIX — is behind them too.
Even back in the spring, Sirianni let it be known that the word “repeat” wasn’t going to come out of his mouth. It won’t come from Hurts either.“It’s a new journey,” Hurts said. “It’s a new season and those things are far behind us. The past is behind us and the future is too far away, so we have to stay present and worry about right now.”
While Mailata admitted that his battle against the phrase “defending champs” is more of a personal crusade, it’s clearly born from the overarching theme inside the building. Basically, what the Eagles did last year just doesn’t matter anymore.
