The Dolphins have reportedly interviewed Eagles' DL coach Clint Hurtt for their defensive coordinator job.
Eagles defensive back coach/ passing game coordinator Christian Parker finalizing deal to become Cowboys defensive coordinator. The Dolphins have interviewed Eagles defensive line coach and senior defensive assistant Clint Hurtt for their defensive coordinator position, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported Saturday morning.
Hurtt joined the Eagles in 2024 and has worked wonders with the interior linemen, overseeing a group that had a 2nd-team All-Pro and Pro Bowler in his first year as a starter in Jalen Carter, one of the most improved players in the league this year in Jordan Davis and a promising young force in Moro Ojomo, who had six sacks this year, 7th-most among all defensive tackles. The Eagles this year were one of only three teams with three interior linemen with at least three sacks. Anthony Weaver has served as the Dolphins’ defensive coordinator the last two years after replacing Vic Fangio, now Hurtt’s boss with the Eagles. With Jeff Hafley replacing Mike McDaniel as head coach in Miami, Weaver is not expected to return. Hurtt, a one-time defensive tackle for the Miami Hurricanes, broke into the NFL on Marc Trestman’s Bears staff in 2014, where he worked alongside former Eagles defensive coordinator Sean Desai and one-time Eagles offensive coordinator Mike Groh. He remained with the Bears under John Fox before joining Pete Carroll in Seattle, where he was assistant head coach and defensive line coach for five years and then defensive coordinator for two years. Hurtt is the second very highly regarded defensive position coach the Eagles are in danger of losing. The Cowboys hired defensive backs coach and defensive passing game coordinator Christian Parker earlier this week. The Eagles do not currently have an assistant defensive tackles coach. Jeremiah Washburn coaches the edge rushers, Tyler Yelk is listed as a defensive assistant and Tyler Scudder a defensive quality control coach.-round pick of the Ravens, has interviewed for head coaching jobs with the Falcons, Steelers, Bills and Cards during this coaching cycle. He’s also considered a favorite to become John Harbaugh’s defensive coordinator with the Giants if he doesn’t get a head coaching job.
