Nagy spent four seasons on Philadelphia’s staff under Andy Reid and has since coached nine additional years under Reid with the Chiefs across two separate stints.

This past season, Kansas City’s offense finished as the 20th-best unit in the NFL, with superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes even struggling at times. As a result, KC missed the playoffs for the first time since 2014, and Nagy was not retained.Nagy was reportedly in the mix for the Titans’ head coaching job, but the job was given to the 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh. After going 12–4 in his first season with Chicago, Nagy followed with consecutive 8–8 finishes before finishing 6–11 in his final year. Trubisky made the Pro Bowl in 2018 under Nagy after throwing for 3,223 yards and 24 touchdowns — solid but not great numbers — while also tossing 12 interceptions. In the following two years, Trubisky’s performance declined to a below-average level, which contributed to Nagy’s firing after the 2021 season. Nagy has followed Reid for most of his career, but his mentor opted not to bring him back next season. Once considered a rising coach star, he no longer has that same appeal.
