A Delco man, Jeffrey Zimmerman, was charged with aggravated assault after stabbing a man in the head with a 5-inch knife during an Eagles Super Bowl celebration in Prospect Park. The victim required multiple stitches and narrowly avoided losing his eye.

Jeffrey Zimmerman, 37, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and related crimes in the attack, according to Police Chief David Madonna, who made the arrest himself while assisting his officers on patrol.Zimmerman remained in custody Monday, in lieu of $15,000 bail, court records show. There was no indication he had hired an attorney.
The group had gathered near Fifth Street and Madison Avenue, where crowds from nearby bars had spilled out onto the street. As Zimmerman passed the group, he hurled threats at them, threatened to fight them and ordered them to “get out of the street,” the affidavit said.
