The defense struggled to generate a pass rush late in last week's game against the Washington Commanders, allowing Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels to lead his team on a drive. A defensive player on injured reserve had been expected to provide the Eagles with more depth and the ability to rest key players.
However, he exited Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys early, leaving the Eagles thin at the position again. Huff played in his first game since being activated from injured reserve on Saturday following wrist surgery. But with the Cowboys driving into Eagles territory, Huff jogged off the field, pointing to his left shoulder. After a brief discussion with trainers, Huff left his helmet on the bench and went to the locker room for further evaluation. His return is questionable. In limited action Sunday, Huff performed well against the run, redirecting rush attempts in his direction back inside. In 10 games this season, Huff has recorded 2.5 sacks, four quarterback hits, and eight pressures—figures that are down from last season’s performance with the Jets. The Eagles were forced to rotate their pass-rush during the second half last week after Sweat left with an injury. However, the team waived Harris on Sunday to make room for Huff.
