An Eagles cornerback appears unlikely to play in Thursday night's game against the Minnesota Vikings after a head injury.
will be in the concussion protocol after a hit he received in Sunday’s 25-20 win against the New England Patriots, meaning it will be a long shot for him to play against the Vikings. The Bradberry announcement comes right after the news that linebackerBradberry had to leave the field late in the fourth quarter after attempting to make a tackle and went to the locker room to be evaluated, but Bradberry never returned to the game.
If Bradberry is unable to play, second-year cornerback Josh Jobe would be the likely starter on the outside. Jobe came in to replace Bradberry and was defending Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte on the fourth down play with 29 seconds left in the game, pushing him out of bounds to seal the win. Sirianni said that Jobe is able to play within their scheme, and he believes he can contribute and play well.
“We have a lot of confidence in Josh,” Sirianni said. “That’s why he made our roster the last two years. He’s a really physical corner who is long, strong and when he is able to get his hands on you, he is able to control you. We have a lot of faith in Josh. Regardless of who is in there, we can play the schemes that we want to play because Josh is our third corner and there are times when your third corner has to play.
The Vikings will enter the game with wide receiver Justin Jefferson, the reigning AP Offensive Player of the Year, posing a threat to the defense. In the Vikings’ Week 1 20-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jefferson finished with nine catches for 150 yards. When the Eagles played the Vikings last year, former defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon had cornerback Darius Slay followed Jefferson.will have an interesting decision to make.
