The Eagles on Monday afternoon activated veteran safety Marcus Epps from Injured Reserve.
Ashlyn Sullivan has the latest as the Eagles head to Los Angeles to face the Chargers on Monday night. INGLEWOOD, Calif. — The Eagles on Monday afternoon activated veteran safety Marcus Epps from Injured Reserve.
He’ll get a chance to play on Monday Night Football against the Chargers. They also elevated safety Marcus Epps from the practice squad.Epps, 29, had been on IR for the last four weeks with a shoulder injury but had his practice window opened during the week. He was listed as questionable for tonight’s game but just because the Eagles needed to activate him to the 53-man roster. The Eagles on Sunday opened up a roster spot when they waived receiver Xavier Gipson, so they don’t need a corresponding move today. Because rookie Drew Mukuba is on IR with a fractured ankle, Sydney Brown started last week against the Bears and struggled. So it seems likely that Epps will start next to Reed Blankenship against the Chargers. “Ever since I got back here, anytime I’m out there with Reed, it’s easier, it’s kind of seamless,” Epps said this week. “We have that repertoire of playing together in the past. That definitely makes it a lot easier and makes it a smoother transition for me.” The Eagles brought Epps back after final cuts when he was released by the Patriots. They initially signed him to the practice squad but eventually promoted him to the active roster when his three elevations ran out. Epps has played just 15 defensive snaps this season but has significant NFL experience.Epps has played in 90 career NFL games with 45 starts. He was a full-time starter for the Eagles during the 2022 Super Bowl season before leaving in free agency.
