The alarm system at a local business plays a loud voice, telling people to stop trespassing on the property, neighbors said.
The loud voice coming from the system warns people not to trespass on the property at wee hours of the morning. Lolita Lopez reports for the NBC4 News at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. Some neighbors in an Eagle Rock community said Tuesday that they are taking matters into their own hands after the alarm system at a local business has been keeping them up at night as it plays a loud voice, telling people to stop trespassing on the property.
The business at the center of the community uproar is the historic Sparkletts' bottling plant on Lincoln Avenue as the business is trying to keep people off the property."You are trespassing. Please leave the area," said the voice from the mobile surveillance trailers, equipped with cameras and speakers. One neighbor told NBC Los Angeles that the entire neighborhood can hear the loud noise at 1 or 3 in the morning. Now a group of"sleep deprived neighbors" in the area are putting together a petition to ask the business to turn off the alarm. "I know LA has a homeless problem. I understand, but at the same time, the people who live here, the people who have homes, are being disturbed every single night," the community member, who did not want to identified, said. Eduardo Ramirez, another neighbor, said even though he hears alarm at wee hours of the morning, he's getting used to the loud voice. "I feel comfortable. Maybe it's just like someone breaking in or something. It could scare off like other people who's trying to get in the perimeter and stuff like that," Ramirez said The Moorish revival building has been nominated as an historic cultural monument," according to the Los Angeles Conservancy after it closed due to consolidation. NBCLA reached out to Primo Brands, which owns Sparkletts, by email about what will happen to the building, and if it will respond to neighbors' concerns with the security messaging system. "I want this area to be safe," the unidentified neighbor said."But the quality of life here isn't just about security. It is about being able to sleep at night." One community member who's supporting the petition said there is a plan to bring up the situation at the Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council meeting in April.
