e.l.f. Beauty reported surpassing Wall Street's sales expectations for the third quarter, driven by growth in both retail and e-commerce channels. However, the company lowered its full-year forecast due to weaker-than-anticipated January sales, causing its share price to drop over 20% in after-hours trading. CEO Tarang Amin attributed the softer start to 2025 to several factors, including category softness, lapping last year's successful lip oil launch, and a slower start for some new products. Despite the downward revision, Amin expressed optimism about the company's long-term prospects, citing growth opportunities in digital, color cosmetics, skincare, and international markets.
surpassed Wall Street’s top-line forecasts in the third quarter, but lowered its full-year forecast on the back of a softer-than-expected January. The latter sent its share price down more than 20 percent in extended trading Thursday.
“We believe we are still in the early innings of unlocking the white space we see across digital, color cosmetics, skin care and international,” Amin said. Adjusted net income is now forecast at a range of $193 to $196 million, down from prior estimate of $205 million to $208 million. In an interview with WWD, Amin elaborated on that softer start to 2025, saying that there were three factors at play.
