The wait is over, readers: the highly anticipated Dyson Airstrait has finally launched in the UK. Since it launched in the US last year, we've had plenty of time to see how our transatlantic cousins have found using the new tool on social media, but now it's our turn to trial it.

It's shaped like a straightener, but without the hot plates. Along each arm are two vents, which create two strong, high-velocity air streams. As you clamp the arms together around the hair , both streams of air meet to create one. Pulling the tool downward through the hair takes it from wet to dry, and creates a straightened, polished finish. Will the Dyson Airstrait damage my hair?Dyson's M.O. is all about limiting damage, and the Aistrait embodies this. Inside the arms are sensors to measure the temperature of the airflow. Data is captured and processed every 30 seconds, the heat is regulated, and airflow never exceeds a damaging temperature.Does the Dyson Airstrait work on all hair types?Fundamentally, yes: it'll take all hair types from wet to dry. The amount of passes needed to do so, though, varies according to your hair type. Our trip to the the lab trip to Dyson HQ saw three passes needed on thick, wavy hair to take it from wet-to-dry, and 5-6 passes on 4b type curls. What finish does the Dyson Airstrait give hair?Dyson have positioned the tool as a straightener, but we wouldn't liken its results to a traditional straightening iron. It leaves hair not poker straight, but with a softly straightened finish. Hair is definitely straighter, but movement is retained. Frizz is lessened and all styles look a whole lot more polished. Dyson Airstrait review: Red's verdict The Dyson Airstrait is one of the best hair tools Red's beauty team have tried, ever. As with all of Dyson's products, it's extremely lightweight: there'll be no aching arms for those with thicker hair types. It's also so very quiet; if you share a bedroom with a partner or just don't wish to wake anyone in the house, the noise this makes compares to others on the market is pretty minimal.And the results speak for themselves. In only a few passes, it takes hair from wet to completely dry, giving the finish of a straight, salon-style blow-dry, which is excellent for the time poor .
