Author Mark Stoddart is donating his royalties to Dyslexia Scotland.

Sculptor and furniture designer Mark Stoddart, from Turnberry, has co-written ‘Making a Mark! Discovering the Power of Neurodiversity on a Learning Safari’- an educational resource which highlights neurodiverse learning disorders – such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia and ADHD – while weaving in life lessons.

Mark said: “We wanted kids to identify with the different characters, and say ‘that’s what happens to me in class’ and ‘that’s what I struggle with’.” “There’s plenty of people in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s suddenly realising ‘oh, that is actually me - I could be dyslexic, dyscalculia or dyspraxic.’

Mark, whose sculpture work has been commissioned by celebrities including Elton John, jockey Frankie Dettori and even Saudi Arabian royalty, shared he was sadly bullied as a result of his dyslexia before attending dyslexia school Frewen College in Sussex, which he said “changed the outlook of my life.”
