Houston Dynamo's Ethan Bartlow defends against Real Salt Lake's Maikel Chang during the second half of an MLS soccer match Saturday, May 6, 2023, in Houston. The teams tied 0-0. The Houston Dynamo remain undefeated at Shell Energy Stadium this season.
The Dynamo had a 0-0 tie with Real Salt Lake on Saturday night in the teams’ first meeting of the season.“We didn’t lose, and we had another shutout at home,” Dynamo coach Ben Olsen said. “Those are the positives. Things we need to work on are the things we need to work on. Continue to not reward ourselves in the final third. It was the first sort of hot day, and you could feel that. Both teams were dealing with a little of the elements.
The Dynamo had their fifth straight shutout at home and Steve Clark came up big with another clean sheet. It’s Clark’s 11th clean sheet with the Dynamo, making him the first goalkeeper to reach that mark since Joe Willis.Clark collided with a RSL player in mid-air during the first half and blocked a scissor kick that got the Dynamo fans out of their seats.
“He has been big,” Olsen said. “He’s growing each game, he has been better each game. Tonight, there was no doubt he was the man of the match for us. He’s a good leader, good guy in the locker room, and he helps me out.”Corey Baird, who hit the 20,000-minute mark of his career at the 20th minute in the first half, almost had a goal at the 42-mark in the first half but hit the top of the post.
