One Of The Best Fantasy Shows On TV Returns This Week As ‘The Legend Of Vox Machina’ Season 3 Lands On Amazon Prime VideoWhile DC is mainly focused on big-scale features like The Batman and Superman with Matt Reeves and James Gunn leading those, respectively, now the two are combiningThis is, it should be said, a DC Animation project. That’s not to discount it, as animation is an important part of DC going forward in this new era, but no, it will not be in live-action.
Details are limited, but the story follows Grayson and Todd as young orphan thieves who call themselves the Dynamic Duo. It will be produced by both James Gunn and Matt Reeves, their first of what may be many co-ventures, and it will be directed by Arthur Mintz of new animation studio Swaybox. This is…perhaps not going to be what you think it will be, in terms of animation and what we’ve seen from other DC productions. Here’s how the Swaybox animation process is described:
“Swaybox uses a technology known as “Momo animation,” which is a cross between CGI animation, practical elements of stop-motion, and live-action real-time performance. The result is long-form storytelling billed as visually breathtaking, dynamically expressive and more human.” “Live-action real-time performance does not mean we are seeing literal live characters, but presumably some sort of performance capture, which will make the casting of these characters even more important . While I can’t say this for certain, using an experimental, new animation technique like this is giving me “Into the Spider-Verse” vibes as perhaps DC is trying to start up something along those lines, given how popular that series has been.
