Dancing with the Stars pro dancer Witney Carson at a DWTS season 28 event
Dancing With The Stars' Witney Carson came under fire for some snarky text messages she shared on social media about Dylan and Zac Efron. The professional dancer just won Dancing With The Stars season 34 with wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin.
This achievement took place 10 years after his sister Bindi Irwin won DWTS. Amid all the celebrations after winning DWTS with Irwin, Carson is now facing backlash over recent text messages with her husband, Carson McAllister, that she posted on social media. Dylan made it to the finale of DWTS season 34 alongside Irwin, Alix Earle, Jordan Chiles and Elaine Hendrix but was eliminated in fourth place. According to a screenshot taken by Unusual_Diver_833 on Reddit, McAllister texted Carson to let her know that Dylan's brother and High School Musical star"Zac Efron is here." The pro dancer reacted by saying she was aware of Zac's presence and claimed that the actor was"trying to get votes" for his brother on DWTS. Fans had very strong reactions on social media. In that same Reddit thread, several people called out Carson for publicly sharing a private conversation that took aim at one of her competitors. Evening_Peach_3168 called the situation"crazy," and Boring-Kiwi-5074 claimed Carson was being"shady AF." Icy_Carrot9249 theorized that Zac likely waited until the end of the season to show up in order to"avoid this specific situation" so that it wouldn't appear like Dylan was advancing in the competition because of his brother's popularity. According to many fans, the text message gave the impression that Carson was a hypocrite, considering her own dance partner is part of a famous family, with both Bindi and Terri Irwin showing up to support him and the late Steven Irwin being talked about a lot. Some fans did defend Carson, though. In a Reddit thread created by Petty_Longstocking, Emerita-analoga claimed that Carson wasn't in the wrong because all the contestants were"trying to get votes." The Reddit user didn't think the dancer was being snarky; instead, she was just pointing out the reality of the situation. Carson has been a professional dancer on DWTS 15 times over the years. Robert isn't the only celebrity contestant she's helped win the Mirror Ball Trophy. Alfonso Ribeiro won Dancing with the Stars back in 2014. Other celebrities she's been paired with include Vanilla Ice, Chris Kattan, Frankie Muniz, Kel Mitchell and Wayne Brady. DWTS is typically a very positive and uplifting show on air. However, behind-the-scenes antics and drama can sometimes surface. In fact, Carson's shady text message isn't the only drama from season 34. Ahead of the finale, Corey Feldman lashed out at Maksim Chmerkovskiy for allegedly speaking poorly of him to the press and called the situation toxic. Feldman even went as far as to say he wasn't looking forward to returning to DWTS for the finale, but he later changed his tune. Like many fans noted, it didn't make sense for Carson to share her text message with all of her followers. Maybe it would be best for the dancer to keep her texts private from now on.
