Not all PIP claimants will need to attend a face-to-face assessment if they are due an award review.

The Department for Work and Pensions has confirmed that new applications for Personal Independence Payment are being prioritised to “ensure claims are put into payment as quickly as possible”. Sir Stephen Timms, Minister for Social Security and Disabilities at the DWP , also said that additional Case Managers have now been recruited to “meet increased demand for PIP, which means we are now in a position to begin to deploy additional resources onto award reviews”.

In a written response to Labour MP Katie White earlier this week, Mr Timms explained how some PIP claimants with a long-term condition may not need to attend a face-to-face assessment as a Case Manager may be able to make the decision based on the information already provided.Mr Timms outlined the new processes in place to “increase efficiency and move cases through the system more quickly”.
