New claims for PIP currently take an average of 13 weeks to process.
The Department for Work and Pensions has announced that people in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be able to apply for Personal Independence Payment entirely online from next year. New claims for PIP have been replaced in Scotland by Adult Disability Payment and are no longer processed by the DWP.
New PIP claims are currently taking 13 weeks from initial submission to award decision letters being sent out. He added that claimants can receive third-party assistance to support them in using the online service as long as the claimant is the one making the claim.
