Florida holds closed primaries, which means only voters registered with a political party may vote in that party’s primary. However, nonpartisan judicial and school board races will appear on all ballots, regardless of party affiliation. The special election will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Councilman Terrance Edward Freeman, At-Large Group 1, and will appear on all ballots.
Voter registration is available at the Supervisor of Elections office, 105 E. Monroe St., Jacksonville; at any Jacksonville Public Library; or online at duvalelections.gov. The county elections website also lets voters confirm registration status, find early voting locations and locate their Election Day precinct. For questions about the registration deadline, call the Duval County Elections Office at 904-255-VOTE or visit duvalelections.gov.
