Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa said he joined other senators in calling for Health Secretary Francisco Duque III’s resignation because “he kept on passing the buck” to other authorities when the Department of Health (DOH) failed to conduct proper contact tracing in connection with COVID-19 infections.

Sought for comment on the Senate Resolution signed by 14 senators calling on Duque to step down as Health department chief, Dela Rosa defended his decision to sign saying his chief complaint against Duque is the latter’s lack of sincerity in contact tracing.

He said DOH did not conduct any immediate action on the infected Wuhan couple. The 44-year old Wuhan resident who later died and his female companion was able to visit three cities in the Philippines before they both tested positive of the virus in Manila. Aside from Dela Rosa, senators who signed Senate Resolution No. 362 included Senate President Vicente Sotto III, Majority Leader Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri, Senators Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, Nancy Binay, Grace Poe, Sherwin Gatchalian, Francis Tolentino, Joel Villanueva, Imelda “Imee” Marcos, Manuel “Lito” Lapid, Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr., Manny Pacquiao and Panfilo Lacson.
