Dunning, in his second year of salary arbitration eligibility, agreed to a one-year deal with the maximum allowable 20% cut in base pay. Dunning will receive $2.66 million in base pay for 2025, a person familiar with the contract talks confirmed to. Jon Heyman of the New York Post and MLB Network first reported the agreement. Heyman also reported the deal includes incentive clauses, the details of which were not disclosed.
Coming off a season in which he led the Rangers in innings, Dunning, who turns 30 on Dec. 20, made $3.25 million in 2024. He had a rough seasonand finished with a 5.31 ERA in 95 innings. It ranked as the 10th-highest of the 140 pitchers with at least 90 innings. According to Fangraphs, he had the fourth-lowest WAR of those 140 pitchers.
