The long-awaited prequel show will continue to expand the onscreen universe of Frank Herbert's seminal sci-fi classic, which is already home to Denis Villeneuve's acclaimed Dune movies. The series will loosely adapt the novel Sisterhood of Dune, which was authored by Frank Herbert's son, Brian Herbert.

Dune: Prophecy will have big shoes to fill when it arrives on Max this fall. Both Dune and Dune: Part Two received critical acclaim, with the latter succeeding at the box office this year. Villeneuve's work has been praised for its world-building, performances, and visual style, setting the bar high for Dune: Prophecy in multiple different ways.
The trailer for Dune: Prophecy is a promising sign, however, that the upcoming series may come somewhere close to the qualities of the movies. Lady Jessica and the Bene Gesserit are some of the more interesting parts of the lore explored in Dune: Part Two, as they become integral to Lady Jessica's pregnancy with Paul's future sister, Alia.
