The look was a simple shot of him as Paul Atreides, but in a much different fashion than we’re used to seeing. The new image shows a scarred Atreides, with his mouth covered by a mask but with visible scarring all over his face. While the reason for the change will likely be explained in the movie, Dune: Part Three is expected to feature a time jump of more than 10 years from where we last saw Chalamet’s Atreides in Dune: Part Two, well into the galaxy-wide war that he kickstarted.Dune: Part Three is once again directed by Denis Villeneuve, who was behind the camera for the first two films. The third film in the franchise is based on Frank Herbert’s 1969 novel. Alongside Chalamet, who returns as Paul Atreides, the cast of Dune: Part 3 also includes Zendaya as Chani, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa as Leto II Atreides, and Ida Brooke as Ghanima Atreides. Robert Pattinson is also set to appear in the film in an undisclosed role. Filming for Dune: Part Three began in July 2025, and wrapped later in the year, in November.
