First-half strikes from local heroes Tony Wallace and Finlay Gray had the Sons in a commanding position at half-time, with two goals in three second-half minutes from Michael Ruth and man of the match Matty Shiels securing a statement victory.
Delighted Sons boss Stevie Farrell said his side are heading in the right direction, as they steamrollered Bonnyrigg Rose at The Rock.
Farrell was once again without skipper Mark Durnan, meaning Aron Lynas partnered Sean Crighton at the heart of the Dumbarton defence. The second-half started with the Sons coming close again, as Aron Lynas glanced Ryan Wallace’s free-kick inches wide from six yards.
