The Duffer Brothers, creators of Stranger Things, are launching a new horror series titled 'Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen' on Netflix. This marks their first non-Stranger Things project with Netflix and stars Camila Morrone and Adam DiMarco. Showrunner Haley Z. Boston describes the series as keeping viewers guessing about the impending doom, set during a road trip leading up to a wedding.

There were a lot of opinions about the series finale, and not all were positive, but the series as a whole dominated streaming and broke records while generating over $1 billion in revenue for the U.S. The sci-fi series certainly had elements of horror, which could signal good things for their latest venture with the streaming giant. Entertainment Weekly revealed chilling first-look images for Matt and Ross Duffer's upcoming horror series titled Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen. This marks the first non-related Stranger Things project in collaboration with Netflix before their four-year deal with Paramount comes into play around April 2026. Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen is one of three new shows the Duffer Brothers are bringing to Netflix alongside The Boroughs and Stranger Things: Tales from '85 with their production company Upside Down Pictures. Showrunner Haley Z. Boston joined the project, and this series will be the first of the three projects to release when it's scheduled to in March. Boston spoke of her upcoming project and stated that the"title says it all": "It would be false advertising if not. Something bad happens in every show, right? We need the conflict, but the special thing about this show, and what I think the title offers, is we're gonna keep you guessing on what the very bad thing is." The eight-episode limited series will star Camila Morrone as Rachel Harkin as she sets out on a road trip with her fiancé Nicky Cunningham to his wealthy family's secluded vacation home, but the location of their wedding, which is due to take place in five days. Jennifer Jason Leigh has been cast in the role of Nicky's mom, Victoria, alongside Jeff Wilbusch, Karla Crome, Gus Birney, Ted Levine, and Sawyer Fraser. Each episode will represent the day of the ceremony as Rachel's paranoia grows, fueled by strange occurrences. Boston states that the show is even filmed in a way that is representative of Rachel's superstition and suspicion. "Even when she's not in the scene, we were always thinking about constructing the show in terms of her discomfort. It really represents how it feels to walk into a house for the first time and meet your significant other's family. There's all this lore that you are not aware of, and you're suddenly stepping into it." Netflix's new limited series Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen is due to be released in March, but the specific premiere date has yet to be revealed.
