THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) advised the public to contact Makabata Hotline 1383 for queries, assistance, and services involving the protection of childrens and their rights. The Makabata Hotline was designed by the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC), a DSWD-affiliated institution, to give immediate response, monitoring, and assistance to children via calls, electronic mail, and other social media platforms.
These include legal queries, psychosocial assistance, referral services to the appropriate agencies.DSWD Spokesman Romel Lopez warned the public not to make use of the hotline for pranks or fake inquiries.
'We continue to remind the public that this hotline must only be used for emergency cases. So please avoid making prank calls or false reports because it may cause grave consequences for those who are in distress,' Lopez said.
