The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided temporary shelter to 227 street dwellers from Manila, Pasay and Caloocan.
DSWD announced on Wednesday, August 2, that it launched its reach-out operation dubbed "Oplan Pag-abot" on July 3. It has assisted 38 families or 113 individuals, 111 unattached adults, and three unaccompanied street children.
DSWD spokesperson Assistant Secretary Romel Lopez said the FISS will undergo evaluation and biometric registration for the issuance of identification cards. DSWD said "Oplan Pag-abot" is a major project that aims to help the people living and staying on the streets by providing them necessary interventions which include temporary shelter or protective custody, "Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag Asa Program," Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations , and Sustainable Livelihood Program .
