Amid the conflicting positions of Malacañang and the senators on the expiration of the Bayanihan Law, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Monday, June 8 that it remains committed to distribute the second tranche of cash subsidies to Social Amelioration Program (SAP) beneficiaries to ensure the continued protection of the welfare of the country’s poor and marginalized sectors.
DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao said the agency is sticking to Republic Act No. 11469 or the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, which provides that the emergency cash subsidies, ranging from P5,000 to 8,000, shall be given to eligible family-beneficiaries for two months.
“Nakahanda ang departmento na ipahatid ang second tranche, bagamat kinakailangang tapusin ang validation as to tge eligibility at ang deduplication process ,” she said. Covered by the second phase of SAP are Region III, except Aurora; National Capital Region ; CALABARZON; Benguet; Pangasinan; Iloilo; Cebu; Bacolod City; Davao City, Albay, and Zamboanga City.
