Suit alleges Tarrant County has not taken proper steps to ensure drugs do not enter the jail, resulting in several deaths.
The lawsuit alleges Tarrant County has failed to implement procedures which effectively prevent drugs from entering the jail and has failed to adequately treat those with mental illnesses, who the suit said are more susceptible to drug use.A lawsuit filed by the family of a man who died of a fentanyl overdose while detained in the Tarrant County jail alleges the county lets drugs “run rampant” in the jail, leading to multiple deaths.

“Given that a number of those who died had drugs in their system at the time of death, it is clear that Tarrant County has a pattern and practice of allowing illegal drugs to make their way into the jail and into the hands of its inmates,” the suit said.
