A drug mule caught wheeling a suitcase packed full of cannabis while attempting to travel to Aberdeen was rumbled by eagle-eyed train station staff
, police have revealed.
The drug trafficker had entered the West Midlands station and purchased a rail ticket to the Granite City with cash that fateful morning. But his suspicious behaviour set off alarm bells for a railway employee, who sent a text message to BTP. Phan, from London, pleaded guilty to possession of a Class B substance with intent to supply at Birmingham Crown Court and was sentenced to two years and seven months imprisonment on January 6.
“Anyone attempting to move commodities on the railway in this manner is extremely naïve – we will catch you and bring you to justice. I would like to thank rail staff at Birmingham New Street that day who reported Phan, and the courts for handing down an adequately strong jail term.
