SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan police have arrested 37 suspected drug traffickers and another 31 individuals for possession of illicit drugs since the movement control order (MCO) came into force.

State narcotics chief Supt Pang Jin Lai said in the most recent case on Thursday , his men detained five suspects in a house in Felda Palong here and seized heroin and syabu from them.

"Apart from violating the MCO, the suspects are also facing the death penalty as the case is being probed under section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction," he said in a statement.Supt Pang said one of the five tried to escape from police by breaking a window in the house.He said urine tests conducted on the four others all came back positive for drugs.

Also seized during the period was 5,755g of ganja, 119g of syabu, 128g of heroin, 3,500g of ketum leaves and 9.5 litres of ketum water worth a combined RM50,000.Article type: free
