A drowning woman was dragged to safety by a police officer after falling into the River Trent in Nottinghamshire. Police were called to the river's edge in March after receiving reports a woman, who was in her 30s, had fallen in near Newark and was struggling to escape.
PC Wood then administered first aid, wrapped her in his own jacket and kept her calm and safe whilst other emergency services arrived. PC Wood, who has been commended by his sergeant for the act of bravery, said: “We received a call from a male stating he was concerned about his partner, and she was struggling with her mental health. He thought she was going to jump into the Trent.“The Trent is a vast area, and it was a very cold evening.
