Emergency services performed hundreds of rescues across the state but sadly two people drowned.
over the long weekend as emergency services recorded their busiest Easter period for search and rescues.
The deaths brought the state's drowning death toll to 42 for this year, according to Surf Life Saving NSW. Among the rescues were major near drownings along the coastline in Kiama, Port Stephens, Sydney's south and Byron Bay. Marine Rescue NSW said this Easter was their busiest year on record after crews assisted in 163 search and rescue missions, including 54 emergencies.
