On Monday, Huntsville Water crews said the latest testing near the Huntsville Water Plant showed hopeful results.
Crews used sound testing along the line to map where the break in the water system may be; however, as of Monday night, the leak had still not been found.
According to Huntsville Mayor Richard Sorenson, on Sunday, crews installed a valve about halfway through the water system line, which allowed them to isolate and eliminate some areas where the leak may be. The valve also provided a temporary fix, ensuring Huntsville residents had water from the town's well.
However, a boil order remains in effect, and residents are advised to boil water before drinking or cooking with it. Huntsville Water Manager Ron Gault said crews have flown drones over the line, used thermal imaging, and added dye to the water among other tests, but none of the tests have indicated a nearby leak. Gault also said that crews are facing challenges in the field.
Regarding the timeline for a complete fix, Sorenson said it depends on when the break is found and repaired. However, he said crews are getting closer to locating the leak.
