A holiday drone show was abruptly canceled after several drones collided and fell to the ground, prompting an investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The incident occurred during the 6:30 p.m. show on Saturday, Dec. 21, when multiple drones crashed into each other shortly after the show began in Orlando . A spectator, Philippe, told News 6 he witnessed 'a few dozen drones' falling out of the sky and crashing into the water and on land.
He posted on his X account MosqutioCoFL Podcast that showed a few dozen drones at the show appeared to crash into each other and fall from the sky onto the ground and lake below. Orlando Fire Department confirmed that one person was taken to the hospital with a minor injury, though the cause of the injury was not specified. The FAA released a statement on Sunday morning, confirming that several small drones collided and fell into a crowd during the show. The agency stated it would be investigating the incident. The 8 p.m. show was canceled due to the technical difficulties. The holiday drone show, now in its third year, typically draws crowds of approximately 25,000 people. This was the second year the city had used the vendor Sky Elements to operate the drones. Orlando Police Department detectives have contacted the injured individual's family and said it will assist the FAA in gathering evidence for the investigation
