The Los Angeles County Fire Department said the drone struck SuperScooper Quebec 1 while it was flying in the area of the Palisades Fire.Los Angeles County Fire says flying a drone in the middle of firefighting efforts is a federal crime. Conviction can lead to a year in prison or a fine of up to $75,000.

The Palisades Fire has burned nearly 20,000 acres of the coastal community of Pacific Palisades, making it the largest in a series of wildfires that broke out across Southern California this week, according to the latest figures from Cal Fire. Containment is estimated at 8%.
