Having someone parked across your driveway can be a real pain, often causing disagreements between neighbours.
There's not much that's more irritating than returning home from work and finding a car parked across your driveway, preventing you from entering.
The driving guidance was updated at the beginning of last year with a few key changes, mainly focused on the "hierarchy of road users" - giving priority to pedestrians and more responsibility on larger vehicles to be safer on the roads. But unfortunately, there is no criminal law in place to penalise motorists who leave their car on someone else's property.
Technically, leaving a car on someone else's property counts as trespassing which is a civil offence. In these cases, the police can't get involved with unknown cars, as it's not a criminal offence and they're on private property.
