Police said the driver was shot during argument with two men, then drove off and crashed at nearby 60th and Michael streets late Thursday

Homicide detectives are investigating after police and paramedics responding to a car crash in Oak Park late Thursday discovered the 25-year-old driver had been shot. Someone reported the solo car crash at the intersection of 60th and Michael streets shortly before 11 p.m., San Diego police homicide Lt. Steve Shebloski said in a news release Friday. Authorities arrived to find the car had crashed into a fence and the driver was unresponsive.

He was taken to a hospital, where he died less than an hour after the call reporting the crash. The lieutenant said the initial investigation indicates the driver had been shot during an argument with two other men. He drove a short distance before crashing. The victim has been identified, but his name was withheld until his family could be notified of his death. Detectives are looking for witnesses, surveillance video and physical evidence as they try to solve the case.
