Another crew was called out to clear the scene
An Audi driver was taken to hospital after being involved in a crash with a fire engine. A crew from Leigh was involved in the collision with a black Audi estate at around 10.25am this morning .
It took place on Twist Lane, at the junction with Atherleigh Way. Another fire engine, from Hindley, had to attend to clear the scene involving their colleagues.READ MORE: Bomb squad descend on industrial estate with cordon in place after 'war shell' foundA spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At around 10.25am on September 19 a fire engine from Leigh fire station was involved in a road traffic collision on Twist Lane, Leigh.
“The driver of the car was taken to hospital by family members. Firefighters used specialist equipment to make the scene safe. GMFRS crews were in attendance for about an hour and a half.”
