A North Olmsted woman called police March 20 and said another woman pointed a handgun at her while they were driving. Also, a Brook Park man was arrested May 3 for driving under the influence of liquor.
Updated: May. 17, 2025, 10:22 p.m.A North Olmsted woman, 37, called police at about 5 p.m. March 20 and said another woman pointed a handgun at her while they were driving. It happened on I-71 northbound near Snow Road.
A Chevrolet Cruz entered her lane, almost sideswiping her vehicle. The Cruz changed lanes again to the left of the woman. The driver of the Cruz rolled down her passenger-side widow and started yelling at the woman, who did not respond. The driver of the Cruz pointed a handgun at the woman, then cut her car in front of hers. Both women exited the freeway at Clague Road but the Cruz driver didn’t confront the woman further. The woman wrote down the license plate number of the Cruz. Police traced the number to an 18-year-old man. They called the man and left a message. The man didn’t call back.A Brook Park man, 47, was arrested at about 8 p.m. May 3 for driving under the influence of liquor. Police received a report that a driver, later identified as the Brook Park man, was slumped over the steering wheel of a Nissan stopped in a Pike driveway. The vehicle’s engine was revving. When police arrived, the man was still in the Nissan and the engine was still reviving. Police knocked on the vehicle window several times but the man didn’t wake up. The vehicle doors were locked. From the passenger-side window, police saw that the Nissan’s gear was in park. The man’s foot was pressing the accelerator, causing the engine to race. Police knocked on the window again and this time the man awoke. He removed his foot from the accelerator. He turned of the Nissan’s engine and unlocked the doors. Police smelled alcohol in the Nissan. They asked the man if he had just driven home. He said yes. He denied drinking alcohol but his eyes were bloodshot and glassy and his speech was slurred. The man refused to take field sobriety tests but police believed they had probable cause to arrest him. He told police that a firearm was in the Nissan. Police found a loaded revolver in the vehicle.A Cleveland man, 18, was cited at about 2 a.m. May 5 after police found him passed out drunk and lying on a sidewalk. Someone had called police about the man. When police arrived, they spoke to the man and another man, 19, who was with him. Both men smelled like alcohol. Police asked the younger man what was going on. He said he didn’t know. The older man said they had been drinking alcohol in his garage on Richard and then started walking around. Paramedics arrived and took the 18-year-old to Southwest General Health Center in Middleburg Heights. Police gave the older man a courtesy ride home.A Middleburg Heights man, 21, was cited at about 9 a.m. May 3 after police found open cans of beer in his pickup truck, which was parked outside McDonald’s, 14841 Snow. Police had received a call regarding young people “shot-gunning” beers, or drinking beers quickly through holes in the sides of the cans, in front of Giant Eagle, 14650 Snow.Police arrived and saw two cases of beer in the bed of the truck. Five open beer cans were in the backseat. Police walked into McDonald’s and found the man, who was with five other people, all younger than 21.A Brook Park man and a Warren man were caught selling AT&T products door-to-door without permits on Lockhaven. It happened at about 7:30 p.m. May 2. Residents had complained about the men, who were also trying to sell products on Birchcroft Drive. Police spotted the men on Lockhaven. The men said their manager had given them permission to sell there. The men admitted that police had warned them previously not to sell products door-to-door without permits. They refused to identify themselves, so police arrested them. After police placed the men in handcuffs, they changed their minds and accurately identified themselves. Police cited them.A trailer was stolen April 24 from the parking lot of Haynick Auto, 5080 West 140th. Security video showed a Toyota Highlander with no license plates pulling into the Haynick Auto lot at about 8:45 p.m. that day. The driver hooked the trailer to the Highlander and drove away.
