Driver, passenger seriously hurt in Chula Vista crash near Interstate 805 [Breaking]
A driver and a passenger suffered serious injuries when their minivan crashed at a Chula Vista intersection near a freeway Sunday night, police said.
Several 911 callers reported the crash at the intersection of East Palomar Street and the south Interstate 805 exit for the carpool lane about 10:25 p.m. When officers and paramedics arrived, the Chrysler Town and Country minivan was on fire, police said. The driver and the passenger had gotten out of the vehicle.They were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that were potentially life-threatening, police said. Further information about them and their condition was not immediately available Monday.
Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors, police said. The cause of the crash was under investigation.
