Driver leads San Diego police on pursuit; arrest made after brief standoff [Breaking]
A 20-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly led police on a high-speed chase, ending in a standoff that shut down northbound Interstate 5 near downtown San Diego late Sunday morning, authorities said.
Shortly before 10:30 a.m., officers broke off the pursuit and fell back as a helicopter tracked the suspect, who was located at the Hawthorne Street exit near Little Italy. The driver kept revving his vehicle and refused to come out, so police set up around his car, blocking all lanes of traffic.
