At least 10 people were killed and dozens of others were injured after a person in a vehicle drove into a crowd in New Orleans during a New Year's celebration early Wednesday morning, authorities said. The incident happened around 3 a.m. local time in the popular area of Bourbon and Canal Street. The vehicle used in the attack was reportedly a Ford F-150 Lightning truck and was rented through a car sharing company.
New Orleans City Council President Helena Moreno told a local news outlet that the suspect in the attack is 'not local' to the area.The White House said President Joe Biden has also been briefed on the incident and called New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell to offer full federal support.'I am grateful for the brave and swift response of local law enforcement in preventing even greater death and injury,' President Biden said in a statement.
