The crash occurred late Thursday night in Cumberland County.
A truck driver was killed and his passenger injured after the vehicle ran off a Cumberland County roadway and into a river late Thursday night, police said.
Matthew Jacobs Jr., 60, of Bridgeton, was driving a dump truck southbound on Bridgeton-Fairton Road/Route 553 in Fairfield Township around 11:30 p.m. when the vehicle left the roadway to the righthand side and plunged into the Cohansey River, according to a New Jersey State Police spokesman. Jacobs died of his injuries and his passenger was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, police said.
