According to the Washington State Patrol , at 1:24 a.m. Wednesday, a trooper tried to stop the speeding car on southbound Interstate 5 near Marine View Drive, but the driver did not stop.
Moments later, the car went off the freeway, hit an embankment, rolled over, and came to rest on Summit Avenue, the Everett Police Department said. The driver, a man in his 20s, was extricated from the vehicle by Everett Fire Department firefighters, and then taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Because there was a very short time between the time the trooper tried to pull over the driver and the crash, the WSP said video from the trooper's patrol car will be reviewed to determine whether the trooper was actively chasing the driver before he crashed.
