Steven Arndt, 60, claims he forgot the dog was tied to his vehicle, Seneca County sheriff's deputies said.
Published 8:04 PM EDT Jun 25, 2019ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A New York man is accused of driving a half-mile with his dog attached to his vehicle.
Steven H. Arndt, 60, of Waterloo is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, a felony, carrying an animal in a cruel manner, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle, according to the Seneca County Sheriff's Office. "The dog was dragged in excess of a half-mile before the vehicle was stopped" on Monday, deputies said in a release.
Arndt claimed he forgot the dog was tied to his vehicle, deputies said. The dog suffered"extensive" injuries, and was taken to a local veterinary hospital for treatment.Arndt was processed by deputies and released. He is scheduled to appear July 15 in Seneca Falls Town Court.
