'If you need your licence, don't take drugs'

A driver has been arrested on the M65 after telling police he "used cannabis the night before to celebrating getting a new job".

Officers have now issued a warning to other motorists over driving under the influence of drugs after stopping the motorist on the motorway in the early hours. The force's road policing unit carried out a roadside drug test today after a driver admitted to using cannabis the night before. It soon became apparent that the driver would test positive for the drug after celebrating getting a new job. A 'drugwipe test' showed a positive indication for cannabis and they were arrested for blood analysis.Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, police warned: "If you need your licence, don't take drugs."
