A man was arrested on drunken driving charges after allegedly striking a pedestrian in south Austin last week, police said. Bijan Cyrus Irani, 34, was arrested the evening of Feb. 20 after Austin Police Department officers responded to a crash in the 9300 block of Menchaca Road at 6:53 p.
m. Officers arriving on scene found a vehicle stopped in the center turn lane with significant front-end damage. A man was found with severe injuries and was taken to a local hospital.Irani remained at the scene. Officers conducted a driving while intoxicated investigation, including standardized field sobriety testing, and determined Irani was intoxicated.
