A 20-year-old driver is accused of being intoxicated in a crash that killed a teenager early Saturday in far East Dallas, police say. Gabriel Cantu faces charges of intoxication manslaughter, intoxication assault and possession of narcotics, Dallas police said. It is unclear whether he has an attorney.

Police said Cantu was speeding north in a black Infiniti in the 2800 block of Peavy Road, near Gross Road, about 12:50 a.m. when he collided with a southbound Ford Taurus. A teenage passenger in Cantu’s vehicle was pronounced dead by Dallas Fire-Rescue. The teen’s identity has not been released.Cantu was being held in the Dallas County jail Saturday, and his bail has not been set.
