Driver accidentally slams into National City apartment building after having leg cramp [Breaking]
Ten people were temporarily displaced from a National City apartment building Wednesday after a woman having a leg cramp crashed into the structure, fire officials said.The driver told emergency responders that she ran into the building when she suffered a leg cramp, National City Fire Department Battalion Chief Sergio Mora told OnScene TV.
He said a woman was inside the apartment that was hit by the car. “She is extremely lucky she was not injured,” Mora said. The woman who lived in the apartment told OnScene TV she was lying on the bed with her dog when the car slammed into the room. She said she rolled off the bed and ran to the bathroom with the dog. Neither one was injured.Eight of the displaced residents were expected to be allowed back into the building sometime Wednesday after it was shored up, said Battalion Chief Robert Hernandez. The two people who live in the apartment that was damaged by the car would need to stay somewhere else, he said.
The driver declined to be transported to the hospital for treatment. Damage from the crash was estimated at $60,000, Hernandez said.
