There were no injuries, but the shelter's fabric walls and air conditioning unit were damaged. A drive-by shooting fatally injured a security guard at the shelter in 2019.

Five bullet holes from the Saturday shooting can be seen on panels covering a chain-link gate facing Imperial Avenue. One bullet appears to have pieced an air conditioning unit, causing it to leak.

A bulge on the back of the duct shows how close a bullet came to piecing the shelter’s fabric wall just inches away. It apparently fell inside the duct instead of entering the shelter, where it might have struck someone in one of the bunk beds near the wall.
